Description
Mandarin ducks are one of the most beautiful and stunning birds in the world with their captivating and colorful patterns on their wings. They are known as ‘oshidori’ (beloved bird) in Japan due to their loving nature. Once prevalent in East Asia, now they are very rare birds listed in the ‘red data book’ as an endangered species by the environment ministry. However, it is estimated that Japan has some 5,000 pairs of these ducks.

Such gorgeous creatures, and loving too! I am sad to read they are on the endangered list. Hoping that changes for the better as soon as possible. A most inspired and extremely beautiful painting. Their markings are so amazing they look like toys!!
